Data quality: Securing competitive advantages

Efficiency and enhanced value are the objectives of important business initiatives, such as business intelligence, data warehousing and CRM projects or compliance requirements. This necessitates a long-term basic approach to the quality of the data administered and used. In other words: companies which base their decisions and processes on consistent, complete, consolidated and trustworthy data operate more profitably and more successfully than others and achieve better results faster.

In agreement with this, studies by Gartner, META Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers, amongst others, show that company results can be considerably improved by data quality measures. A poor database does not supply the correct information required to open up lucrative business sectors. Far too many projects and the derived measures fail as a result. The reason: Optimised quality-oriented data management, one of the most important prerequisites for an exhaustive approach, is not provided, or its complexity was underestimated.
