Compliance - Playing safe on dangerous ground!

Filter out black sheep!

As part of the international efforts to combat terrorism, companies must ensure that they act "in compliance" with the latest rules and regulations in the respective countries. Thus, the current legal situation in almost every country provides for the processing and filtering of transactions executed by persons/companies suspected of terrorism. As a result of the adopted embargo measures, companies are required to check the address and customer data in their databases for risks with regard to crime-fighting and for financial risks in general. In this regard, there are national and international (sanctions) lists (black lists). The source data and data flow must be checked and assessed against these, because the exchange of goods, information and instruments of payment with national and foreign persons and organisations included in these lists is prohibited under penalty.

A manual check is ruled out on account of the high number of data records. Instead, specialised software solutions are required to match the address pool against the individual negative lists. The matching technology of the software must have a high accuracy, because this is the only way to ensure that the "black sheep" are reliably filtered out and penalties avoided. The installation of suitable processes which enable permanent, routine matching in batch processing or interactively "on the fly" is also important for this "terror matching". Seamless integration of the data matching products in the existing IT environment is called for here.

Companies can carry out the national and international matching of addresses of business partners with the data information of risky persons and organisations included in the sanctions lists reliably and performantly by means of the Uniserv software mail. As an intelligent expert system, mail is distinguished by high-precision correct match recognition in the duplicate detection procedure. It is based on address-specific analyses (phonetics, fuzzy logic, country-based regulations). This provides the maximum recognition quality even if individual address elements are missing, abridged, incorrect or variant. At the same time, Uniserv supports interested companies with its extensive consulting expertise, so that they quickly find their way around this sensitive enterprise-critical environment and install e.g. the workflows and processes which will enable them to act "in compliance".
