Next step implemented in the Data Quality Service Hub
Uniserv extends its data management offer with DQ Explorer and DQ Real-Time Suite
Pforzheim, 6th February 2012 +++ Uniserv GmbH, the largest pure-play provider of Data Quality Solutions in Europe with its headquarters in Pforzheim, completes its integrated Data Management platform for company data – the Data Quality Service Hub (DQSH) – with two more products. Along with the Data Integration Suite introduced in the spring of 2011, the Data Quality Explorer and the Data Quality Real-Time Suite are the result of a customer-oriented way of thinking to solve problems in all the classic project scenarios of data management: data quality initiatives, data integration, data migration and consolidation as well as data synchronisation. The goal is to keep the quality of the company data at a high level over its entire period of use. The modularly structured DQSH enables Uniserv to offer products which cover the complete Data Quality Cycle: from analysis of the database and an initial cleanup to the implementation of a Data Quality Firewall in applications to prevent ongoing data contamination and regular cleansing of stored data as part of data maintenance.
"The vision of a company-wide platform for all processes in Data Management is of prime importance in the implementation of our data management strategy", says Wilfried Eickholz, head of product management at Uniserv, explaining the concept. "All three products are therefore controlled via a standardized integrated user interface and user administration and have a common repository for the central administration of meta data, such as file and database definitions or transformation rules."
The Data Quality Explorer comes into play during the analysis. It enables users to check the condition of their data quickly and interactively. This data profiling provides information about possible problems in the database and their cause. The DQ Explorer can be used to load data from a variety of databases and files. All the important information on the analyzed database, such as the degree of filling of a table for each attribute and the value characteristics for each attribute, is apparent at first glance. The user then interactively selects individual sections via a drill-down function, in order to examine them more closely. An insight into the interdependencies of the values is thereby obtained and the areas of the database which contain potential data quality risks can be identified more quickly. Additional statistical quality characteristics with respect to the quality of customer data can be systematically generated at the touch of a button in conjunction with the Uniserv Data Quality Batch Suite and the address validation and duplicate check functions. Other data quality metrics can be defined and determined by the user by means of user-defined rules. The metrics can then be further analyzed in the context of all attributes.
However, the Data Quality Explorer does not only offer real user benefits through the productivity gain in data analysis, the acquisition of a complete picture of the data state as well as the avoidance of unplanned work and costs or postponements in projects. "Its suitability for users as diverse as data analysts, technical departments or IT personnel, to which the intuitive user interface makes a decisive contribution, should be mentioned in particular," says Eickholz. The use of the column-oriented database technology also enables the quality of very large quantities of data to be analyzed interactively with a high level of performance.
With the Data Quality Real-Time Suite, Uniserv increases developer productivity in work for securing Customer Data Quality "on the fly". The DQ Real-Time Suite enables users to develop complex data quality checks individually tailored to their requirements and implement them in applications without having to program the underlying validation rules. "Instead of writing thousands of lines of program code, the test sequences can be easily and efficiently designed as a diagram in a graphical user interface and be customized at any time without any great effort and comfortably provided as Web Services for all company applications," adds Wilfried Eickholz. In addition to the Uniserv Real-Time Services, such as the postal validation or the duplicate check, in-house functions of the customer or services of third parties can be integrated in these sequences.
