Use Scenarios

For the application of convert there are the following typical use scenarios for qualified address analysis and address formatting:

Data Cleansing

When constructing address databases or when transferring data files in data warehouse projects, the sets of data with convert can be uniformly structured and the name and address elements can be personalization enabled. convert is capable of precisely identifying the meaning of different address elements, of separating them into individual components and of supplying the elements of an address in any arbitrary order and standardized spelling for the output. It goes without saying that you can standardize the code sets that are being used as well as convert all the fields in the record any way you wish in regard to length, field type and key. You can insert consonants and implement any other desired manipulation.

Data Entry

For data entry, regardless of whether interactive or in batch, names and addresses can be supplied in detail through automatic address analysis and address formatting on the fly -  provided the entry takes place with a coarsely structured mask or is done by novice users, with whom one increasingly has to reckon that the input is not placed in the right fields or entered in the right order.
