FAQs about Mailing Optimization
Are there reasons why infomail is still stamped electronically (as a contract-bound kind of postage stamping), when a one percent rate reduction is also granted for the stamp mark (ZL)?
The stamp mark (ZL) is authorized for Infopost. Quantities below the lowest allowable quantity which are to be sent as infoletters or letters must be stamped in another way (sender stamped or preprinted "postage paid"). The lowest allowable quantity is 4000 items; only multiples of this quantity can be sent. The lowest quantity regulation "250 letters sent per routing region" does not apply here. Envelopes with the special imprint "Postage Paid (ZL)" are necessary.
How is international letter post correctly addressed?
To facilitate rapid and smooth delivery of international shipments, Deutsche Post advises its customers to from now on refrain from using the country ID code preceding the postal code of the town or city. Henceforth the country of destination is to be written in capital letters in the last line of the address in German, French or English. Example: instead of B-1000 Bruxelles write only the postal code and the city and write BELGIUM as the last line.
How does ecoSort.D recognize the destination country for international letter post?
ecoSort.D can identify the country of destination on the basis of three kinds of information:
on the basis of the last address line when this contains the country of destination, on the basis of the country identification code (as per international automobile licence plate number) or on the basis of the ISO country key.
Is the software ecoSort.D authorized by Deutsche Post?
Uniserv is a Deutsche Post AG software cooperation partner. ecoSort.D has been tested and authorized by Deutsche Post with regard to electronic postage stamping.
What are Info-Mail IMPA?
This is a concept in conjunction with postage optimization in Austria. Info-Mail IMPA are letter post mass mailings with personal addresses up to a maximum weight of 2000 gram per letter sent and with the maximum dimensions of 33 cm in length, 23,5 cm in width and 5 cm in thickness (height). The sent mail must be completely identical in content, except for the address, the salutation and the reference numbers (e.g. the ID number, customer number, date of birth, etc.).
Does ecoSort.CH ascertain the "fine" postal code number and the mail carrier number?
No. It is a prerequisite that the fine postal code and the mail carrier number are already contained in the address data that is to be processed. To find this information you can use e.g. Uniserv ‘s software post.CH.
Several times a year the Swiss Post in part alters the number plan or the "Guide for Mailing More Than 100,000 Catalogs, Each Weighing over 500g". What does this mean for the user of Uniserv's software ecoSort.CH?
The regulations for bundle, sack and pallet preparation and labeling contained in the number plan or in the instruction manual for mailing catalogs are converted by Uniserv into DP tables. The respective current tables are made available to the users of ecoSort.CH software within the framework of existing maintenance contracts.
Can mailings intended for foreign destinations be prepared with ecoSort.CH, and how is the grouping according to countries and tariff categories implemented?
Yes. For this purpose the unassigned postal code numbers ranging from 0001 to 0999 are used. Each number can be allocated to a country. Or for one country a whole series of numbers can be reserved. Thus mailings to Germany can be grouped together according to the destination regions. Mailings sent to a country can additionally be separated according to delivery mode (over land/by air). The assignment of addresses for (pseudo) foreign destination postal codes must be conducted with your company's own data processing procedures.
