Uniserv provides its address management solutions using the iSeries (AS/400) feature PASE (Portable Application Solutions Environment) for direct installation on the iSeries (AS/400). Previous bypasses, which used necessary configurations in the form of external servers or internal units (Integrated Netfinity Server), can thus be omitted. Currently the postal validation post and the duplicate check mail are available.

iSeries (AS/400) PASE is a component integrated into the OS/400 operating system. From the point of view of IBM it is an important step in the direction of server consolidation. Special UNIX applications can be used with it directly on the iSeries (AS/400). Performance readings have shown that with PASE the server processes demonstrate a similar ‘power' for error tolerance as on a comparable RS/6000.

The advantages for the user are obvious: for installation and administration no knowledge of UNIX is necessary, and the applications are represented to the user as iSeries (AS/400) applications. Thus PASE facilitates the integration of current, marketing-relevant applications such as address management in the context of e-commerce or CRM activities into the iSeries (AS/400) environment.

iSeries (AS/400) PASE is available in the operating system OS/400 from Version 5, Release 2 for all iSeries (AS/400) servers.
