iSeries (AS/400)-Focused Realization
In the development of the components, special attention was paid to their smooth integration into the iSeries (AS/400) environment. Uniserv's address management solution has been consistently realized in client/server-technology and fits seamlessly into the iSeries (AS/400) environment. It can be used without any problems both in connection with modern iSeries (AS/400) applications in client/server technology and also with "classic" centralized iSeries (AS/400) applications, independent of whether your application uses 5250 fonts or graphical Windows interface. All validation and correction processes run automatically in the background.
Smooth integration
Online application
The function calls for the online checks (validations) can easily be integrated into your applications by your developer or your software partner. Uniserv provides the program interface for that. The actual validation and correction processes then run automatically in the background. Special value was placed on smooth integration into the RPG programs, which still determine the software landscape in the iSeries (AS/400) environment just as they used to do. However, the integration of the Uniserv interface into other progam languages such as Cobol or C is also possible without any problems.
Background processes
Due to Uniserv's client/server technology and the extensive support of iSeries (AS/400), there are various alternatives in this field for the operation of the background processes.
- Directly on the iSeries (AS/400 system)
This is possible from OS/400 V5R2 or higher. The prerequisite is that the software feature "PASE" is available. At present, this option is available for the products post and mail.
- On an internal Windows NT/2000/XP server
This is possible from OS/400 V5R2 or higher. The prerequisite is that the hardware feature INS (Integrated Netfinity Server) is available. The respective Uniserv background process runs on this internal Netfinity server under Windows NT/2000/XP.
- On an external UNIX or Windows server
This is possible from OS/400 V5R2 or higher. As external servers all generally used UNIX derivatives (AIX, HP-UX, Sun Solaris, DEC, Linux) and Windows NT/2000/XP are available.
