Volkswagen Financial Services AG (VWFS) is one of Europe's largest financial services providers, with more than six million leasing and financing contracts.

The goods that VWFS finances for its customers are high-value automobiles. This in turn attracts potential fraudsters who value this exclusive mobility but do not want to pay for it. Furthermore, as a result of legal requirements, VWFS must identify sanctioned individuals and organizations and prevent them from benefiting from a business relationship.

To meet these requirements, VWFS relies on a system to detect potentially fraudulent individuals and organizations - Uniserv's Caution and Compliance Framework.

The Challenge

In a central business partner application (ZGP), in which more than 10 million customers and suppliers are managed, it is inevitable that one or the other "black sheep" will sneak in. For VWFS, it was therefore important to find a solution that could do both: meet the legal requirements and rule out suspected cases of fraud in advance.

With the help of CCF, VWFS was able to significantly reduce actual fraud cases in addition to complying with legal requirements. For example, often small things, such as a cell phone number that had already been used in a previous fraud case, led to hits that allowed VWFS to investigate a business transaction more closely before making further decisions. A multi-step process is used to filter out such suspicious cases and take action that can effectively prevent the actual fraud.

In addition, VWFS benefits from significantly optimized processes in this area - for example, while it previously took quite possibly up to two weeks to go through the entire customer base when a new embargo list was received, this process is now completed after just a few hours.
